Get in on the Act!
What you need to know about the MYT audition process:
Please make an appointment to audition for future MYT productions by emailing or calling:
Downloand and print Audition Form.
If you are unable to commit to an appointment you may come to the open auditions, but note that you may have to wait until those with appointments have been seen.
Prepare a one minute or 16-bar song. Sing any song of your choice that best represents your talent and vocal range. Please bring an audition song on an accompaniment CD or iPod/iPhone. Please avoid singing a capella or bringing any accompaniment that includes background vocals.
Dress appropriately. Dress casually and conservatively with your hair arranged so the directors can see your face. Be prepared to move in case you have a dance section to learn. Wear clothing that will move with you.
Bring one (1) copy of your resume. Be sure your resume is up to date. It is preferable to list your most recent projects first. If you do not have a resume, there will be room on your audition form to list any pertinent information you would like the directors to know about you.
Bring one (1) photo or headshot. If you do not have a professional picture, a school photo will do. It is important that the directors be able to reference you when casting is taking place.
Bring a list of your scheduling conflicts with you. It is important for the directors to know what your schedule is to make sure you are available for all rehearsals required of you.
Callbacks are a second audition process where a director will consider you for a particular part in the show. You may be asked to sing a song from the show and read ‘sides’ (a part of the script). You also may be requested to learn a dance.
If you do not receive a callback, it does not mean you were not cast in the show. Be sure to refer to our website for all casting notices after you audition.
